.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1242 AM MST Tue Dec 3 2024
Mild and quiet conditions continue across the Cowboy State today. A
large ridge will keep these conditions in place through much of the
week. Highs reach the 50s east of the Divide and 40s west of the
Divide, which is nearly 10 to 20 degrees above normal. Slightly
cooler temperatures are possible in some locations west of the
Divide where snow cover is remaining. These cooler temperatures may
lead to some isolated areas of fog Tuesday morning, especially
across portions of Jackson Hole. Much of the upcoming week sees
little to no chances for precipitation as any disturbance remains
well away from the area.
The weather remains mostly uneventful through much of the week. A
weak shortwave may near the region for the end of the week but
models currently show the only impacts being some breezy winds.
However, this weak disturbance looks to be the start of a change in
the weather pattern. The area of potent ridging that is keeping dry
and mild conditions in place looks to gradually break down over the
weekend. Long range models have continued to show a disturbance
moving into the region by the end of the weekend. There is a lot of
uncertainty regarding this system with basically no agreement among
any of the major models. Overall, quiet and mild weather prevails
through the remainder of the week. A change in the weather pattern
is looking more likely, with chances for precipitation and cooler
more seasonable temperatures arriving by the end of the weekend.
